IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: The Dean of Instruction is responsible for assisting the principal to provide the instructional and administrative leadership necessary for addressing student achievement and overall school effectiveness.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:

? Assist with development and implementation of the master schedule and student schedules.
? Analyze and assess past school performance in order to plan for new programs.
? Remain abreast of current curriculum trends, instructional strategies, practices, developments, instructional materials and related governmental procedures and guidelines.
? Work collaboratively with parents, school, and community committees on all school related matters.
? Assist in the selection of school personnel.
? Coordinate with district personnel, parents and staff planning for an orderly opening of school.
? Planning activities for Staff Development.
? Develop and implement teacher orientations.
? Participate in workshops, in-services, and other administrative staff development activities.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

? Masters degree from accredited college or university.
? Mid-Management Certification

Experience:

? Five to seven years in related experience.
? Three years exemplary teaching experience.
? Thorough knowledge of curriculum, district policies and procedures.

Other Requirements:

?Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the department.
? Ability to perceive organizational implications of recommendations and decisions.
? Ability to acquire information regarding different subjects, analyze, select, and present information in and acceptable form.
? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management both internal and external to the District.
? Ability to discern the sensitivity of internal/external communications in a large public organization and an awareness of the elements of public relations.
? Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant).
? Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, drive and/or be mobile.
