The Kinkaid School is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher with a passion for students to serve as a Middle School MathematicsTeacher, starting August 2017. The Kinkaid School is a co:educational, nonsectarian day school enrolling 1,400 students in pre:kindergarten through twelfth grade. Located on a sixty:five:acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the school offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban and diverse culture. With an enrollment of approximately 430, the Middle School fosters a learning environment centered on academic excellence, intellectual curiosity and personal attention. The Middle School faculty enjoys small class sizes and a collegial, collaborative environment centered on intellectual curiosity and continuous professional development.The Middle School Mathematics teacher must be able to teach all levels of Middle School mathematics to a total of approximately 75 students. The teacher will advise a small group of students and be a member of one or more grade level teams. Kinkaid teachers enjoy a supportive teaching environment focused on collegiality and academic excellence. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring a club or coaching a sport. This is contingent upon the candidateA?s interest and skill set as well as the SchoolA?s needs.A BachelorA?s degree in mathematics or pedagogy with an emphasis on science education (MasterA?s degree preferred)A minimum of three years of experience teaching mathematics to middle school children.Proven understanding and ability to teach mathematical contentAbility to incorporate inquiry into instructional strategies to create student centered problem solving approach to learningProficient use of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Docs, SpreadsheetCore knowledge of development of middle school age childrenCore knowledge about research:based practices for effective instruction of the middle school age learnerA passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum to serve the needs of all learnersExceptional written and verbal communication skillsLauded experience working with students, parents, and colleaguesA demonstrated eagerness to grow professionallyA commitment to collaboration and high ethical professional standardsA collegial, energetic, and engaging demeanorAn interest in and commitment to being a full member of the communityIn addition, one must exemplify KinkaidA?s four core values of honesty, responsibility, respect, and kindness in interactions with all members of the communityThe Kinkaid School provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
