Job Description:/h3:
The Director of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement function provides strategic leadership, direction and management to meet the needs of our customers, and integrates Continuous / LEAN improvement across all functions of the enterprise. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement will ensure StarPaks products meet and conform to our Customers specifications and end use requirements and continuously improve the efficiencies and reliability of manufacturing and administrative systems to deliver value and productivity.

JOB DUTIES
Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures
Establishes in:process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures
Works directly with Operations management and in conjunction with R and D, Purchasing, Logistics, and other departments to provide guidance and assure implementation and adherence to programs including; designing, implementing and documenting procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
Performs root:cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Responsible for overall safety of personnel, company assets, and the surrounding environment.
Establishes operating policies and procedures, coordinates of multiple functions, and establishes strategic plans to ensure product requirements are met within quality and cost objectives.
Ensures that all employees are properly trained in quality related procedures by developing and/or presenting training materials; establishes and integrates proven problem solving systems to identify root cause and counter measures.
Leads the efforts to develop value stream maps, develop customer focused KPIs, and fix process gaps.
Initiates and implements continuous improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Policy Deployment) to raise the performance of the companys product offerings.
Works with supervisors, engineers, and employees to understand, document, and improve the flow of work in process through the manufacturing facility. Develop and maintain annual value stream mapping efforts, CI plans, and calendars.
Identifies and improves operating costs related to productivity, materials, production supplies and reduction of scrap and rework costs.
COMPETENCIES
Bachelors degree in engineering, science or finance based studies; Master a plus.
Ten (10) years of experience in QA systems / LEAN implementation and management, with five (5) years as a CQE/CQM in a medium:size manufacturing environment.
Communications proficiency and ability to inter:relate directly with Customers.
Full working knowledge of Lean Concepts / DMAIC methodology with demonstrated success.
Mentoring of Lean Six Sigma projects and training.
Results driven to meet customer and company expectations.
Highly accurate, detail oriented, with strong follow up.
Strong process, facilitation, and problem:solving skills.
EXPERIENCE
Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus
Minitab experience / Strong analytical ability. Knowledge of statistical control methods, hypothesis tests, and process capability metrics (DPMO and CpCpk)
Exceptional change management, leadership and floor management skills.
Proven mentoring, teaching, coaching, and situational management skills.
Ability to use discretion, prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints.
Willing work flexibly to enable contact with all shifts
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
