This pharmacist will be working in a community setting and serve patients by specializing in providing diabetes medications and supplies. This position will also include providing pharmacological information to a multidisplinary health care team and working with management to meet pharmacy goals. The pharmacist will also manage a pharmacy tech and and provide supervision in addition to the supervision required for the pharmacy. The pharmacist will oversee all cleaning, maintenance and monitoring for the pharmacy. This pharmacist will work closely with management to obtain insurance contracts and have the opportunity to grow the pharmacy from the very beginning.

New pharmacy in NW Houston seeking a Pharmacist to oversee and manage our specialty pharmacy. Monday-Friday with the opportunity to have flexible hours. We are seeking an individual dedicated to patient care and with the motivation to grow with our team and business.

Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
• Dispenses medications and devices and provide accurate labeling of pharmaceuticals and devices.
• Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
• Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
• Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
• Develops staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
• Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
• Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Has knowledge of all aspects of pharmacy business and is able to speak intelligently on the scope of services that are offered.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Oversee all facility and associated maintenance, cleaning and monitoring according to policy and procedures as well as state and federal regulations
• Accurately interpret prescription orders to make correct pharmacy prescriptions
Education & Experience:
• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
• Be licensed with Texas State Board of Pharmacy ( other state licenses preferred)
• Demonstrated expertise and excellence in pharmacy operations (including management, staffing, reimbursement, process design/workflow, technology)
• 1-2 years’ experience in non-sterile compounding including but not limited to capsules, troches, suspensions, cream etc.
• Familiarity with USP 795 and PK software and Pioneer software
• 1-2 years of management experience involving supervision of pharmacy technician
• Diabetes experience preferred but no required

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as work on a computer for long periods of time. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with employees, patients and customers.

Required education:
• Doctorate of Pharmacy
• Required experience: knowledge of pharmacy operations: 1 year
• Required license or certification: Texas State Board of Pharmacy
