Position Description:

This position supports actuarial analysis efforts related to Institutional Markets Group Initiatives and Strategies. While the focus of the position is for the Structured Settlements Business Unit it will not be uncommon for additional IMG Projects to be a portion of the responsibilities of this position. Position can be based in Houston, Amarillo, or Nashville.

• Identify, reconcile and report discrepancies rooted in data quality and/or interpretations across disparate systems and applications
• Provide analytical and technical support for projects as assigned
• Support product management efforts for the profit center
• Participate and contribute to cross-functional project teams, including working closely with our Business Solutions Group on a myriad of business and process improvement projects
• Build business cases, present cases to management for approval, and lead projects
• Data mining, data analysis, and report creation
• Assist in the analysis and preparation of various actuarial portions of financial statements and management requests for information
• Follow organization guidelines and policies and established procedures
• Provide detailed and accurate documentation for all work
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
• Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the structured settlements industry
• Evaluate, Recommend, and Contribute to the implementation of ideas and concepts that provide consistent results
• Successfully leverage technology and data to identify and recommend improvement opportunities and to support organizational needs and objectives
• Build and maintain successful relationships with colleagues, leadership team, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies and others to achieve organizational goals
• Additional work as assigned by Management

Position Requirements:

Education & Licensing
• Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field
• Professional Industry Designations a plus
• Completion of actuarial exams a plus

• 2-5 years of related experience, preferably in a financial service or insurance environment

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Analytical and interpretive skills
• Knowledge of claims management procedures a plus
• Able to travel as required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Visio)
• Strong database skills (SQL Server and Oracle highly desired)
• Background and experience in database design and normalization concepts
• Knowledge of VBA a plus
• Knowledge of SAP Business Objects a plus
• Knowledge and experience with Cognos or similar reporting environments a plus
• Knowledge of annuity pricing and valuation, and the ARCVAL valuation system is a plus
• Knowledge and experience with the following disciplines is highly desired:
- Probability and Statistics
- Theory of Interest
- Life Contingencies
- Survival Models
- Mortality Table Construction
