Director (RN) - Mother Baby Unit

The Woman's Hospital of Texas opened in 1976 and ever since has remained the state's premier facility dedicated solely to the health of women and newborn infants.

Located near the Texas Medical Center, Woman’s offers 397 licensed beds, including a NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and a full range of women’s health services and newborn infants.

More than 650 board-certified physicians at Woman's offer their expertise and an outstanding level of quality care in the areas of gynecology, obstetrical care, high-risk pregnancy and minimally invasive surgery.

The Woman’s Hospital of Texas is currently looking for a Director (RN) - Mother Baby Unit.

  • Directs, coordinates and controls the overall operation of Post Partum (PPU) and General Nursery; develops policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Responsible for the determination of the qualifications and competencies of the personnel who provide patient care services in postpartum and newborn nursery.
  • Responsible for the provision of orientation, in-service training and continuing education to all persons in postpartum and newborn nursery.
  • Directs and coordinates the integration of the departmental functions and services with other aspects of overall patient care.
  • Directs the quality assurance and process improvement activities and ensures compliance with patient care and medical practice standards. Continuously assesses and improves the performance of the services provided.
  • Directs and participates in the development, revision, implementation and communication of goals, policies, guidelines and standards for postpartum and newborn nursery.
  • Ensures adequate facility space and competent personnel to meet the needs of the patients served.
  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and physicians to ensure optimal patient care and promote a positive working environment in the department and hospital.
  • Responsible for establishing the financial budget in conjunction with senior management; directs the financial budget to attain a profitable business model.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures for postpartum and newborn nursery.
  • Ensures that services maintain compliance with the standards of practice for the unit as well as the standards, rules and regulations of JCAHO.
  • Performs other duties as directed or assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.
