The Pasta Chef must follow specific recipes and cooking procedures to produce only the highest quality product every time. The Pasta Chef must be extremely knowledgeable of all ingredients and show pride in the bar and its presentation. Always having high quality product available to our guests is a must.

The hot pasta is prepared by combining pasta, cheese, and sauce. Each product has different ingredients, taste profile and overall appearance. You must know the correct cooking procedures and all of the ingredients in each pasta offering. You are an expert at your position and are able to answer any questions, handle any situation, or request.

Always keep high quality products available on the bar for guests. Anticipate the guest flow, letting people know you are constantly preparing fresh products. Observe product on the bar frequently every 5-8 minutes and act to maintain the fresh appearance.

Whenever a free moment comes use it to clean your area, restock product, or assist a fellow team member or guest. Follow \"QSC\" Standards' and the \"Service Steps\" that are contained in the manual. They are guidelines to ensure success at your new position. Be able to answer \"Yes\" to each of the Standards of Excellence and you can be assured of meeting our guests' needs and expectations.

Job Duties:

  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, pasta cookers, convection oven and refrigeration equipment.
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Completes required tasks within assigned time frames.
  • Tracks and reports any food waste.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Opens and/or closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.

  • Performs related duties such as helping to wash dishes as needed, preparing recycling, cleaning around restaurant and help with any other projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.

In order to perform the essential functions of the positions at Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants, employees must be able to walk & stand consistently for up to 8 hours, and lift & carry items weighing up to 30lbs for a minimum of 3 hours each day. Reach, bend, push & pull items for up to 2 hours each day and must be able to use fingers, hands, arms and shoulders repetitively for up to 6 hours each day.
