Position Description:

The Regional Director is the central resource and relationship manager for the back office personnel (marketing, product, illustration and case management) for the assigned accounts in their division. This will allow the RVP to focus on the sales personnel in the operation. The assigned accounts will tend to be the largest BGAs in the division. In addition, the RD will have primary accountability for the marketing efforts and relationship of the top RGAs in the division. Reporting to the Divisional Vice President of AG Life Brokerage Sales, this position’s primary focus is on business development with responsibility for sales support and relationship management for the back office personnel (marketing, product, illustration and case management) and will perform the role traditionally performed by the RVP for those people in the assigned BGAs in the division.

Job Functions / Responsibilities:
•The RD in concert with the DVP and RVP is responsible for developing and executing a business plan that provides the support and training activities necessary to achieve and exceed sales targets for their assigned accounts.
•Establish a support and travel schedule to ensure frequency of in person interaction for the assigned accounts. Prepares agendas in advance (going in with a purpose) around training on AIG products, sales support, systems and processes. Afterwards, summarizes next steps and follows through on commitments.
•Conducts themselves in an ethical and compliant manner based on company and regulatory standards. •Plans travel to assigned relationships in division on a cost effective basis within budget as determined by the DVP.
•Works on a collaborative basis with DVP and appropriate SVP to prioritize business plans through BGA and RGA segmentation in order to achieve highest return on sales production.
•Leads or coordinates training, webcasts and conference calls for internal staff or assigned relationships in division.
•Builds and maintains strong relationships with BGA members in order to establish and achieve sales targets. Serves as the initial contact for problem resolution for the internal staff. Researches accounts and/or elevates issues to solve problems.
•Partners closely with RVP (who is main point of contact for BGA Principal and external sales staff) and Strategic Account Managers, providing continuous communication on product updates, case management and BGA needs in order to advance sales within accounts in division.
•Continuously analyzes relationships to assess market changes or trends, personnel changes or relationship needs, and provide input for potential revisions with business plan (visits, trainings, etc.) accordingly with DVP and appropriate RVP.
•Reports sales activity and production as required.
•Actively manages informal/formal applications to maximize placement and production. •Organizes and maintains orderly files on all customers.
•Maintains successful relationships with internal clients including but not limited to Marketing, Compliance, Underwriting and Operations.
•Leverages the Company’s expertise by working effectively with areas such as Product Development, Competition & Research, Advanced Sales, etc.
•Determining training needs of the internal relationships they are assigned to. Assessing if they are meeting the needs and adjusting.
•Dealing with underwriting issues and challenges
•Travels 25 - 30% of the time.


Position Requirements:


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
•Expert knowledge of Life Insurance, and Life insurance products and familiarity with basic Sales concepts
•Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
•Excellent presentation skills
•Knowledge of product illustration systems and sales support systems and tools
•Must be able to apply sound discretion and judgment abilities.
•Strong listening skills required.
•Requires a demonstrated record of initiative, leadership, problem-solving and adaptability
•Excellent public speaking with the ability to plan, organize, develop and deliver effective presentations to a targeted audience
Education:
•Four year college degree recommended.
•Three to five years Other Job-Related Skills / Background
•Life Insurance License, Series 6 & 63, knowledge and understanding of BGA distribution.
