I am a Bassist Seeking a group to join looking for anything worth the time.
I have recently moved to the area. Drive time is not a problem for me as I am posting this several areas. I don't want replies from individuals that have been playing for just a couple of years. I'm looking for talented people that can make something happen in what they have. I am looking for people who will make me a better player and to broaden my horizons. I also am looking for recording opportunities in order to get more audio clips of me playing different genres. I play everything from Funk, R&B, Zydeco, Rock, Metal, Country, And yes Texas Country, I also play some Jazz as well. My influences are wide and diverse, I play upright, Fret less 5 string and 7 string basses my gear is pro gear. I do not consider myself the cream of the crop by any means nor Do I consider myself better than the next guy. I just consider myself to be someone well versed in various styles that wants to get noticed like the rest of you out there. IF you like what you read shoot me an email and we can talk further. For the recording opportunities I will do some with no charge just to get more chances to record. Hope to hear from you soon. • Location: Houston

Retro Punk-rock band looking for a drummerposted: November 19, 2009, 03:38 PM

We are an old-school style punk rock band in its infancy looking for a drummer. We're all in the 17-20 age-range, and so we're wanting someone around that area (it certainly isn't manditory, though). We have a vocalist/lyricist (me), a lead guitarist, a rhythm guitarist, and a bassist.
A few of our influences are the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, the Damned (later albums, mostly), the Misfits, Anti-Nowhere League, the Exploited (mostly the first two albums), and a bit of the Stranglers' stuff. Fairly cliche list, we know, but we aren't flakes, or anything like that. We want to toy with all kinds of things within the realms of punk-rock (sans the modern pop-punk garbage), so we need someone who is somewhat diverse. Generally, however, we're going for a hardcore sound most of the time, so someone who specializes in playing fast would be ideal, but it would help if you could also play other styles. Also, a lot of our lyrics are satirical, and dark-humor oriented, so it'd help if you had a sense of humor. On that lyrical note, we might throw in something a bit more Misfits/metal sounding, as well. Finally, NO DRUGS! We've had two drummers who were into that shit, and we aren't dealing with it anymore. Repeat, NO DRUGS! No exceptions. Also, if you drink, do it on your own time. Anyways, if you're interested, e-mail me. =) Location: Cypress/Tomball • Location: NW Houston

REVIEW:
The BATTLE FOR TEXAS Houston Regionals - Halloween Weekend Greetings: First of all let me thank everyone that participated in The Battle for Texas. This includes all Bands, Judges, Sponsors, Special Guest performers and of course... Keith & Joyce Gilley that made the event memorable. The Gilley's name is a piece of Houston History known world-wide. After looking back and considering the event, all bands performed exceptionally well and there was not one act that was not well above average to excellent. Every act was very well prepared. I believe this is why the judges had so much fun and commented at the event that they thoroughly enjoyed the variety of music on both days. But I assure you it was a difficult task for them to choose the best of everyone. Fortunately, the judging system I utilize puts all judges in an objective place to make it as simple a task as possible rather than rely on a simple like or dislike of a music style or performance. Also note the Sunday judges were different from the Saturday "Country Music" judges and never knew the scores of the country acts from the night before. As far as judging is concerned, I will always adhere to this system of competition. No one wins a winner by applause competition except the band with the most fans present at the end of the night. This is not to say don't enter these types of events, this says enter it for reasons other than winning or be prepared to sell a lot of tickets to your fans and get into the last two spots of the night... I have already received thank you letters from several bands and I appreciate the kind words. In general the event went flawlessly from an operational point of view and I am quite pleased at how supportive all of you were to other bands. This includes members of the Damen Austin Band offering (without being asked) an amplifier cabinet to a band that needed one and members of 76 Mile Band allowing an act to borrow an acoustic guitar when their guitar was not functioning properly on Saturday night. True Pro's everyone! As we begin to expand the B4T to other cities like San Antonio or Dallas please feel free to participate anytime. You do not have to live in a city to participate there. Also, winning the competition is not always THE GOAL to participate in an event such as this. Many do it for the experience and what better way to gain a fan base in another city than to participate in an event such as this. It also connects you to clubs in other cities when you are ready to expand beyond Houston. Remember, the winner of our last event came in from Lake Charles, LA. She was a 16 year old singer/songwriter and piano player. Very talented and now at The Univ of Texas in Austin (Breanna Fye). If Breanna Fye keeps it up, you'll hear more from her in the future. Again, Special Thanks to all the following: Sponsors: Platinum - K-Star Country 99.7 (You can expect to hear COUNTY ROAD ZERO & 76 MILE Bands interviewed live on the Bobby Douglas show from 3-7pm very soon. Music played too!) Platinum - New Wave Promotion Gold - Sinkhole Productions Judges: Saturday Night: Justin Grant, Eddie Reeves, Theresa Reeves Sunday: Tish Meeks & Andrew Wood (3 Kisses), Edison Freeman (PineyWoods Studios) Special Guest Artists for Saturday - Halloween Night: Craig Squires (Space City Spaceman) performing - "Halloween Fright - X-Ray Eyes" Brenda Guy - Performing her classic Dance, Disco & Country music covers between bands. WoW! Andi Block - Closed the night with her country dance music (30 minute set) All Participating Bands: Not necessarily in order of finish except for 1st three winning places. 1st Place: County Road Zero - Cleveland, TX - Country 2nd Place: Liquidious - Woodlands, TX - Rock 3rd Place: Illysium - College Station, TX - Metal 76 Mile Band - Katy, TX - Red Dirt/TX Country Here's the Story Band - Conroe, TX - Indie Rock Kill Me Holly Band - Houston, TX - Rock Glenn Bryant Band - Houston, TX - Blues Rock Sou'Briety - Houston, TX - HipHop/Rap Damen Austin Band - Humble, TX - Rock/Blues/Retro Franklin Monroe - Bryan, TX - Acoustic Soloist Singer/SongWriter In conclusion, if there is any way I may be of assistance to your project, do not hesitate to ask. TBR Studios has a wide variety of services available. Solid, versatile and experienced rock/blues drummer looking to hookup with some "above average, pro attitude" players, established band or even a serious start up project. I have pro gear and a easy going pro attitude and can also sing some harmonies and some leads. I'm really hoping to hookup with some players who play a little more than just the same old played out standards. "Been there, done that, got the T-shirts." I'm looking to play at least 3 or more weekend gigs a month. Sorry, but I'm not that interested in country music or playing any type of trash/speed metal or punk.

Bassist looking for a new situation. I own pro gear, custom jazz basses and 1000w of bass rig all ready to go. I'm also available for recording situations at $20/hr. and I don't waste time.
I have some industry contacts for business matters, and I also have booking contacts, so getting shows shouldn't be a problem if everyone elses commitment level is 100% I'm a music scene trooper. Been playing music with bands for 20 years, and i'm only 34. I've been playing in original and cover bands all along the way. I have a tendency to stick with a project. Latest band is a 3 time HPMA award winning band (Lonestar Pornstar) with national distribution. We've played over 300 shows in 6 years, so I'm used to a rigorous schedule. LSPS is calling a hiatus to playing shows in and out of town. 6 years is along time to be here and there and everywhere. Basically, that leaves me at a situation where I'm not ready to put down the bass yet. About me: I'm a huge fan of melody. I prefer playing music with a group of musicians, instead of a bunch of guys that get together to play the 'lets see whose amp is louder' game. If you list your music as wanting to sound like a certain band, then I'm probably not going to reply. I understand listing a bunch of influences, but when it come down to it, if your song sounds just like a major artists song, then I'm not interested. I'm looking for originality and soul, not riffs and volume. does that make any sense? it does to me. I have a strong web presence, so finding out info about me should be very easy. www.myspace.com/fenderphil www.myspace.com/fenderphil75 I'm looking for a non-metal band, thanks. that goes for progressive screamo, noise rock, stoner doom, blast beats, grindcore, or anything of the like, please don't reply. I've already served my time in those genres, lol I may seem like a picky bastard, but when you hear me play, you'll understand where i'm coming from. I understand the value of a whole note on the bass. I also understand that its imperative to lock in with a drummer. I can play slap and funk, blues and metal. Country and a little jazz. reggae and world music of all sorts. i am a bassist through and true. you can email me at fenderphil75 (at) gmail (dot) com • Location: I'm in H-town, Trick
