Greek Bouzouki or Persian Tar Instructor Wanted

I am looking to buy either a Greek Bouzouki or a Persian Tar. But first, I am scouting out Houston to see if there are any instructors interested in helping me out. I hope to learn how to play these instruments while singing too (as I am a singer in a band)

Private lessons or group lessons, either is great!

Join the Houston Open Mic Group on MySpace
www.myspace.com/houstonopenmic

This is a page designed for artists of the greater Houston Area Only! There are a few exceptions, such as Dilana, etc., or if you live out of the area but play one of our events here in town. It is geared to artists, singer/songwriters, soloists, duos to complete bands of all genres that want to get out and play and maybe even get hired. In most cases you may use your show as an audition for the venue...

Joining this group gets you regular updates so you don't miss anything because you did not visit a classified musician ads website recently. As you join, I recommend you also send an e-mail to me here: the preferred RSVP method...

txbackroads@hotmail.com

If you do not have a myspace page just e-mail me and you will be considered a member as well.

I will am now sponsoring another event called:

+++ THE BATTLE for TEXAS +++

Watch for it in E-mail or on MySpace page. I will be posting here also.

BENEFITS OF JOINING and PLAYING with Houston Open Mic Group:

1) Your music listed on our page player if you want some extra exposure. Those who have played most recently go to the top of the music list and move down as we add new songs. If you don't have a demo, you may create one here at TBR Studios. Visit the page to see the last 10 artist song uploads. You will also hear the calibre of musician common to many of our members.

2) You get put on the Top Friends List so visitors have a link to your page.

3) I choose venues that hire acts when possible. Several of our acts have been hired to play at both the GILLEYS ROADHOUSE & LURES ICEHOUSE on Lake Conroe Venues. In some cases, vocalists have been invited to sing with Keith Gilley's "URBAN LEGENDS BAND" on Friday & Saturday nights at GILLEYS.

If you are a Vocalist ONLY with no band or play no instrument you may bring backup music on CD to sing with. We have had a couple of these acts and they brought down the house with encores too! THIS IS NOT KARAOKE!!! You have to know the words, although Gilleys does have TV's on stage you can use. Lures does not...

CURRENT VENUES:

Saturday Nights: Lures IceHouse on Lake Conroe @ 7pm-11pm

Sunday Afternoon/Evenings: GILLEYS Roadhouse @4pm-8pm

I request advance booking and RSVP when you wish to play so I don't overbook a venue. You may just show up and generally will get to play but play slot and priority goes to group members. It's free, why not join? If you don't have a MySpace page you may join by simply sending an e-mail to the addy above.

See you on the page!!!

Thanks,

Luckee

FUTURE Grammy STARS Produced by OCTANE-Records-Music.com!
Octane-Records-Music.com now has several hit songs and "GROUNDBREAKING" industry sound projects that command a space within the R&B / RAP / Hip Hop community.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Oct 25, 2009 – Hear the difference at Octane Records with signed Recording Artists that now include the following New Artists: Aziel, Jailbird, HUD, Heath, Mr. Rakafela, and Octane feat. Shock G (Tupac came up through Digital Underground and owes a lot of his success to Shock G), Humpty Hump, and Snoop Dogg. Produced By Brent Derocher for Octane Records/ Rogue Island ft. - Snoop Dogg.

Most people will never forget Aziel for his chart topping hit "Fall In Love Again." The day it hit KCCN FM 100, Hawaii's premier radio station, it immediately made it's way onto the daily "Top 5 at 5" becoming the number one most requested song for six weeks. Another hit followed-a remake of Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky." Listeners couldn't get enough of Aziel's silky R&B voice. Aziel is currently seeking radio rotation on all main stream USA radio stations for his album "Take You Away" that features music writing and production by multi-platinum legendary songwriter LeRoy Martez Bell, and music writer Linton Weems. With several hit songs and "GROUNDBREAKING" industry sound projects that command a space within the R&B community.

Aziel Toeaina, born January 1, 1978 in San Francisco, CA. is a musical genius who can switch from his R&B delivery to Hip Hop and Rap unlike many artists on the market today. Aziel's critics say he may be as good as Usher, T Pain, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Akon, and John Legend. Aziel also plans on being a Grammy Nominee and a Grammy winner in the very near future.

Jailbird, born Jefferey Sayer in 1978 in Olympia, Washington is destined to be a rap superstar the kind of superstar that understands a good hook, strong songwriting and the importance of a great performance. Jailbird's critics say he may be as good as Eminem, Jay Z, Paul Wall, Lil Wayne, Young Buck, Souljaboy, Ludacris, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Dr. Dre, Tupac, and Lil Jon. Jailbird is a Rap Artist that plans on being a Grammy Nominee in the very near future.

HUD, born Anthony Hudson in Memphis, TN in April of 71’. A Rap Artist who loves performing, HUD began entertaining in early 86’ at talent shows. His mother, who fell upon hard times while HUD was young, was a former background singer for the likes of B. B. King and other popular Memphis recording artists and is credited for introducing HUD to the profession of music.

Mr. Rakafela, born Alvin E. Kirton III in Oakland, California in July of 1973 was highly influenced in the early 90's by the success of Tupac Shakur and Shock G from Digital Underground. Being deeply rooted in Tupac and Digital's cliques Mr. Rakafela developed a Funk/ Hip Hop mix which he displays in his latest masterpiece "Tale of a New Legend" feat. Shock G, Humpty Hump, and Jailbird.

Heath Martin, aka Real was born in the Pacific Northwest, started singing as soon as he could speak. He was raised with many different musical influences that crossed several genres including Gospel and R&B, which have carried into the music he creates today.

I play guitar, sing, write songs/lyrics, etc. I'm PREFERABLY looking for females but really looking for anyone who's interested (female or male) & shares same music interests. I need a bassist & a drummer for a 3 piece original band. It's a PLUS if either/both can sing OR just sing back-up vocals, but it's NOT necessary! I have my own equipment & my own transporation. I'm dedicated, serious, ready to practice, play shows, promote, record songs, hopefully travel & have some fun! My house has a jam room/studio = FREE! But I'm willing to jam at your place also. I live by Missouri City, between Sugarland & Pearland. Check out my music on myspace. Listen to the songs at www.myspace.com/bloodbelle It's something I did to keep myself from going insane here. The 4 "live/studio" songs were recorded in '05 in my hometown of San Antonio (sorry about the poor sound quality). The other song was recorded in '08 here in the studio (a much better recording). Listen to them, if you like that style/genre then PLEASE contact me! I write other styles other than what you hear but it's all basically rock. Go check out my page & I hope to hear from you soon!

~thanks!~

Review: The Battle for Texas (Last Weekend)

posted: November 4, 2009, 04:27 PM

Replytxbackroads@hotmail.com

REVIEW:

The BATTLE FOR TEXAS
Houston Regionals - Halloween Weekend

Greetings:

First of all let me thank everyone that participated in The Battle for Texas. This includes all Bands, Judges, Sponsors, Special Guest performers and of course...
Keith & Joyce Gilley that made the event memorable. The Gilley's name is a piece of Houston History known world-wide.

After looking back and considering the event, all bands performed exceptionally well and there was not one act that was not well above average to excellent. Every act was very well prepared. I believe this is why the judges had so much fun and commented at the event that they thoroughly enjoyed the variety of music on both days. But I assure you it was a difficult task for them to choose the best of everyone. Fortunately, the judging system I utilize puts all judges in an objective place to make it as simple a task as possible rather than rely on a simple like or dislike of a music style or performance.

Also note the Sunday judges were different from the Saturday "Country Music" judges and never knew the scores of the country acts from the night before.

As far as judging is concerned, I will always adhere to this system of competition. No one wins a winner by applause competition except the band with the most fans present at the end of the night. This is not to say don't enter these types of events, this says enter it for reasons other than winning or be prepared to sell a lot of tickets to your fans and get into the last two spots of the night...

I have already received thank you letters from several bands and I appreciate the kind words. In general the event went flawlessly from an operational point of view and I am quite pleased at how supportive all of you were to other bands. This includes members of the Damen Austin Band offering (without being asked) an amplifier cabinet to a band that needed one and members of 76 Mile Band allowing an act to borrow an acoustic guitar when their guitar was not functioning properly on Saturday night. True Pro's everyone!

As we begin to expand the B4T to other cities like San Antonio or Dallas please feel free to participate anytime. You do not have to live in a city to participate there. Also, winning the competition is not always THE GOAL to participate in an event such as this. Many do it for the experience and what better way to gain a fan base in another city than to participate in an event such as this. It also connects you to clubs in other cities when you are ready to expand beyond Houston.

Remember, the winner of our last event came in from Lake Charles, LA. She was a 16 year old singer/songwriter and piano player. Very talented and now at The Univ of Texas in Austin (Breanna Fye). If Breanna Fye keeps it up, you'll hear more from her in the future.

Again, Special Thanks to all the following:

Sponsors:

Platinum - K-Star Country 99.7
(You can expect to hear COUNTY ROAD ZERO & 76 MILE Bands interviewed live on the Bobby Douglas show from 3-7pm very soon. Music played too!)

Platinum - New Wave Promotion

Gold - Sinkhole Productions

Judges:

Saturday Night:
Justin Grant, Eddie Reeves, Theresa Reeves

Sunday:
Tish Meeks & Andrew Wood (3 Kisses), Edison Freeman (PineyWoods Studios)

Special Guest Artists for Saturday - Halloween Night:

Craig Squires (Space City Spaceman)
performing - "Halloween Fright - X-Ray Eyes"

Brenda Guy -
Performing her classic Dance, Disco & Country music covers between bands. WoW!

Andi Block -
Closed the night with her country dance music (30 minute set)

All Participating Bands:
Not necessarily in order of finish except for 1st three winning places.

1st Place: County Road Zero - Cleveland, TX - Country
2nd Place: Liquidious - Woodlands, TX - Rock
3rd Place: Illysium - College Station, TX - Metal

76 Mile Band - Katy, TX - Red Dirt/TX Country
Here's the Story Band - Conroe, TX - Indie Rock
Kill Me Holly Band - Houston, TX - Rock
Glenn Bryant Band - Houston, TX - Blues Rock
Sou'Briety - Houston, TX - HipHop/Rap
Damen Austin Band - Humble, TX - Rock/Blues/Retro
Franklin Monroe - Bryan, TX - Acoustic Soloist Singer/SongWriter

In conclusion, if there is any way I may be of assistance to your project, do not hesitate to ask. TBR Studios has a wide variety of services available.

Thanks,

Luckee
